Whats up

What’s up The next few weeks are going to be something different. To start, it is 3:30 am Friday night and I am moving back to EC tomorrow starting 11am. I dont know how I did this 2 months ago, how do you pack up everything you own in a few hours and still get some sleep? Laundry is tumble-drying in the bexley basement. I went to a movie tonight called Vicky Christina Barcelona playing at the Kendall theater. Went in pouring rain in a tank top and a skirt, soaked my shoes and walked home barefoot. Now its about 4 and out come the cardboard boxes and the cats are just having a field day they know something is definitely up. At 5:30 4 boxes are packed and a suitcase and a large duffle bag. I look out the window and see the sun is coming up. Tomorrow after moving my things back to EC, Im driving back home with my parents to spend the last few days of summer in CT before heading out to Burning Man which is about a 10 hour drive from san francisco in the middle of the Nevada desert which would be my first time out to this event, camping with about 20 students/alums from MIT, our shelter, the Laplacetopede, named in honor of the great mathematician, along with our shade structure, a geodesic dome, in the center of our camp, this year named Z-Transform, after the discrete version of Laplaces great transform operator. Why Laplace? I dont know. I might have picked Pauli myself. But Im not in charge of that. Im in charge of feeding 20 people for 7 days in the desert. The month of august has been a great busy time for all. I think the pressure of the impending summers end is what has been driving me to get up and about. Some things Ive been up to: Really seeing the city. I guess if I had to pick, I certainly do regret not having gotten out into the city sooner. Though Im quite familiar with central and the harvard square area, I realized when my cousin came to visit that Id never actually been down by the harbor or to the financial district of boston, and Id only been down to chinatown and the downtown crossing area once or twice. Boston is a breathtaking city. The air is clean and unpolluted, the waterfront area is definitely worth the visit. Walking is fine, but a fixed up old road bike really makes getting around a treat. One thing though, if you get motion sick easily, I wouldnt recommend going whale watching :/ Learning to sail. 3 free Wednesday classes with the easy-going folks down at the MIT boathouse later, and Im ready to pick up my sailing card at the pavilion. If Id known it was so easy, I would have probably done it a long time ago. After all, I did pass the sailing and boating swim test during orientation freshman year with the last ounce of my strength. Saturday night after Ive gone, the pavilion will be hosting its monthly moonlight sailing event under the full moon. It would have been my first time going and I just think it would have been such a sight. Instead, coming out of a house party in CT saturday night at the house of some family friends, I catch a glimpse of the high full moon through the trees before falling asleep on the dark road home. Getting together some sort of exercise regimen. For some unknown reason, MITs athletic facilities (DAPER) decided in the last year or so to close off its summer facilities to all but paid members. What used to be included in the cost of your tuition is now a $40 extra membership fee for use of the gym/pool during the summer. What many people dont know I discovered accidentally, which is that a half-summer long membership is offered for $25. As I didnt get around to doing the paperwork until mid-July, that is all I had to pay. Still, come mid-August, and I still havent put that membership to good use. Then one day last week I started going to the pool. Ran off to the gym to work out and tumble, and hopped in the pool to cool off. Thats about when I realized that I couldnt even swim 10 meters without losing my breath. So this is what I do now after work. 3 days going, ive gotten back my standing backhandspring and can swim about 2 laps freestyle in the 50m pool. I figure once I get that floating feeling back thatll improve quite rapidly. This weekend is reading blogger applications. Its catching up with a few old high school friends. Its olympics and kitchen renovations and sleeping regularly and missing the goings on at school. In other news, waking up at 3pm and running into Lobdell for a smoothie/soba chicken breakfast, I ran into a sign for orientation check-in. What the hell. :P

Coming from a first person perceptive, the reader would feel the authors situation more than the plot. The story would still be suspenseful as is, because she never explained why the lottery existed. If the story was written mingling point of view, the story would have been divided between first person and third person. Honestly, the author could have used both. She could have told the story, but also placed her personal belief or emotions in the plot. The conclusion does come as a surprise. The story goes from a happy summer festival, to a human sacrifice. Surprise was more of the savage coming out. I was more shocked about the civilians moving in on the poor lady. When she said, It isnt fair, it isnt right, before being stoned to death, that made the story alarming. The story also gave many hints that death was coming. Even Mr. Graves name was a symbol for death. With the children gathering stones, and Mrs. Hutchinson showing up late, she had it coming. The story tried to make it sound positive in the beginning, but showed it was only a death trap. The black dot on the ticket indicated that. Whether the act of these people was superstition or motivation, it was a yearly tradition that was based on the outcome of the farmers corn harvest. Death was the way of punching them for their sins. For an example, the Bible mentions Joseph. He interpreted Pharaohs dream, which said Egypt would have seven good years harvest and seven bad. The reader cannot recall Joseph choosing an individual person to be sacrificed for the bad years. That was the difference of these stories. The Bible was not superstitious, and is still not today. Sacrifices were in the Bible also, but for the remission of sins. The world took it to extremes in cultures and tradition. Like the stones being thrown in the story, that was not a new ritual. I believe this story is not completely horror, because the reader does not suspect a killing is involved. In a horror story, the reader is expecting death from the beginning. This story was defiantly surprising. The author wrote the story, to show readers violence, is still common and used in different ways.

However, sustaining a society of this nature is quite difficult as attempts in the past either failed or are half-baked representations. How do you feel about the dietary intake for the day you recorded? A feeling of both happiness and sadness flows within me as I study my dietary intake for the day. When we study my vegetable intake, I was able to take in a substantial amount; but barely enough to meet the required food intake. Happily I was able to take in more than enough fruits and milk to meet the expected requirement. Also when it came to the fat intake, I was able to take in more than enough but still in the norms. Basically when we look at the over all food intake that I had, I was able to eat more than the daily requirement for almost all the food groups in the pyramid; which makes me happy. I was happy because I know that I have met most of the daily requirements. Did you consume the recommended minimum number of servings from each of the food groups of the food pyramid? Unfortunately, when it came to my vegetable consumption, I was only able to eat 75% of the required amount. Meaning I lack 25% of the vitamins and minerals that I could have acquired from various vegetables that I should have consumed on that day. Happily I was able to eat more than the required amount when it comes to meat, beans, grains, fruits and milk for the day. Which means I am compensated for what I lack in vegetable consumption; at least I’d love to think I am. c. Which groups of foods are underrepresented or overrepresented in your diet? If you did not consume the number of servings from each group, discuss some reasons why you did not consume the number of servings. As was mentioned earlier, I lack vegetables in my food intake. And I barely passed when it came to the appropriate amount of fruits in the food pyramid that I should have consumed. In addition, when it came to Beans, Meat, and Grains, I ate two times the requirement. Grains are readily available in any meal, whether it be pasta, bread or rice. Therefore, unless I decide to follow a certain diet that prohibits me from eating carbohydrates, it is impossible for me to avoid eating a substantial amount of that food group in every meal. Grains in itself lacks appropriate taste that is why it is always a good idea to add another food group to it; Meat or Vegetables. Whether it be crab meat, fish meat, lamb chops, poultry, pork or beef, it is most definitely more palatable than vegetables. Any type of grain tastes much better when eating it with a type of meat since it is more palatable and tasty. Since meat contains enough salinity to give taste to any type of grains, and it may be cooked in a various number of ways that vegetables cannot. Aside from this, vegetables aside from tomatoes, eggplants onions and potatoes all taste monotonous. It is very hard to distinguish one from the other, which is why it is so dull to eat. Vegetables would be great to eat when you add salad dressing or cook it with a type of meat. Although vegetables are healthy and refreshing to eat because of all its vitamins and fiber, it is simply hard to get a person to eat it. On the other hand, fruits are very sweet and delicious, that is why it is so easy to include it on my diet. Fruits are very hard to make it into a full meal, but it is very easy to include it as a dessert in every meal, or a snack when hungry. d. It also described the functions of the left and right hemisphere. Your left brain is better at speaking, writing, mathematical calculations, and reading, and is the primary center for language. Your right hemisphere, posses superior capabilities for recognizing faces, solving problems involving spatial relationships, symbolic reasoning, and artistic activities(9). The experiments were done to find how each hemisphere of the brain process information. To do this the corpus callosum was severed. This made it impossible for the two hemispheres of the brain to communicate with each other. When the corpus callosum is severed it is referred to as the split brain effect. The tests that were performed on the individuals fell into three fields: they were sight, hearing, and touch. All the tests showed that the above is true concerning the functions of each hemisphere of th e brain. The problem that the author was addressing was the fact that the two hemispheres of the brain communicate with each other, and if the communication is destroyed then the functions could be handled by one hemisphere better then the two combined. These experiments proved that there was a dominance in each hemisphere of the brain to perform certain tasks. Even though a connected brain can perform the tasks of both sides. 3. I think that the experiment showed exactly what it set out to do. Show that the separate hemispheres of the brain perform different tasks. It also showed that the brain is capable of performing these tasks even when the corpus callosum has been severed. A dress of embroidered orange silk, the stitching on it as fine and golden as a thread of Rapunzels hair or the spun gold of that millers daughter who had given her word in exchange for a name, her tiny painted face relentlessly smiling in sympathy. Since then she had never managed to hold onto anything for long. Each precious gift would go missing in time, no matter how extensively she clung to it, as a spider clings its sticky, furred, legs to a painted wall. Someone had taken it, it had been there and now it was gone, she remembered it clear as day, even though the dim night had already crept in, had muted the daylight. Innocence has flushed from her cheeks into a guilty crimson. There was no end to her excuses. After that it was an antique music box, the lid engraved with her initials in the cursive script of an antique bible or a medieval tapestry. It played a sweet tune as the tiny figure turned and swirled and spiralled, it had sent chills down her thin frame whenever she heard it. After its elusive disappearance she had heard the merry tune again, this time sinister, at night, but only ever when her eyes were tightly closed. She would reach out for it in longing, almost touching, her fingertips longing for the touch of the bitter, reassuring metal. Then it was gone. It started with a doll and it finished with a tiny golden ball. Perhaps it had fallen down the well. She remembered throwing it into the air yesterday morning, while she sat and hummed a tune at the edge of the black hole. She had peered in, hoping to see the splash of a tiny water snake she had seen once before, but the well was low, the black liquid could not be seen, and only a dropping pebble would reveal the true depth. A call from the house had prompted her to leave; perhaps she had left it there, perched on the side, peering into the abyss. Morning, the sun shone down, touching her ashen skin with its golden tendrils. Her father knew nothing about her missing gift; she knew it would break his ruby heart to hear of its disappearance. Shed searched and hunted all night with no luck. Maybe the vivid morning sun would cast its glow into the direction of her golden orb. Id do anything to get it back. She looked into the horizon, scanning her tired eyes across the emerald green earth. She could see the jagged form of something, developing in detail as it edged toward her. Movement, his thin body swerving and slithering towards her, his eyes as green as the ground he slipped across. His skin so smooth. His smile melted her. You are looking for something, he whispered, his red tongue caressing the soft flesh of his inner cheek as he spoke, looking for something I have. An unravelled palm looked like a spring bud opening to the sun, and there it was, growing and shrinking in his fleshy hold, the light ebbing and flowing off of it like the scales of an iridescent water-snake stirring below the surface of azure settled waters. Take it. She was Eve and he was the serpent, the orb a polished scarlet apple. A snake charmer humming an enchanting refrain. Take it. Green omniscient eyes embraced her body, her breathing slows, her blood feels as though it is trickling through her body like th e fresh, cool stream that ran beside her. She reached out, just as she had in her dreams, the same soft fingertips, the same enchanting melody, the same cool touch. His lips met hers. Inhaling the warm breath from her lungs. The blood drained from her eyes. She hugged the floor, her fingernails gripping to the hard earth, the world was spinning, she was falling, the gravity pulled her further down. A single tear flew from her eye into the sky. Then, she slept. He curled his body around her, jaws wide. The scales of his cracked skin rubbed against hers. A glow of a beady eye. A flick of a red tongue. A flash of those white-hot raw teeth, jagged and roughen. He engulfed her. And slinked away. Commentary Angela Carters stories have several very distinct elements. She often subverts characters traditional roles and values, teamed with rich description and imagery. The incredibly stereotypical characters in fairytales make it perfect for Angela Carter to take a different twist on. In my piece, the first Carter style technique I have used is the switching of tenses. While the story starts in the present tense, with It is late evening, very different to common narrative, it soon switches to past tense. It also switches between events that have happened recently or are happening to something that has happened long before, for example in the switch from the first paragraph being in the present tense and the second paragraph switching to a past event or story. This is similar to the way The Bloody Chamber changes between the current events and much earlier in the story. This makes the reader feel more involved in the story, as the present tense really puts them in the position of what is going on around them. As well as this technique, I used the technique of directly addressing the reader, which again involves them in the story more with the phrase whenever we promise ourselves something, the worst always seems to happen. This makes the reader think of their own personal issues helps them find a similarity with the main character. I also used a similar juxtapositioning of words, which help create a contrast. I described the feel of the music box as bitter, reassuring metal. This contrast creates a different image of the seemingly innocent item and makes it more complex to the reader, whilst also adding a sense of darkness. Because the image took place during a dream, I thought this phrase helped to encapsulate the overwhelming feelings of the dream/nightmare in a way that all readers can relate too but is difficult to express. In most typical fairytales the male characters are usually strong and desirable, and the evil characters are often female, ugly and cruel characters. In my piece I have created the villain as a man to subvert this. The villain, despite being oddly enchanting, has a strong negative side in description. I have portrayed him as a character that seems unnaturally charming but also someone to be wary of. This is a strong change from the normal fairytale males, usually obviously handsome and safe, yet my character still has some of the typical dominant male qualities, his eyes as green as the ground he slipped across. His skin so smooth., this phrase is not necessarily negative but strongly reinforces the idea of the true identity of the male. I also included a variety of different sentence lengths. Minor sentences have more impact and stand out; sentences such as There was no end to her excuses. In this case, the short sentence emphasises the situation of the character. I combined the power of three along with these minor sentences in the description A glow of a beady eye. A flick of a red tongue. A flash of those white-hot raw teeth. This style is similar to the way a person may take in the characteristics of a person they have met, a list of their most prominent features. I mixed some other myths and fairytales into the story when I said golden as a thread of Rapunzels hair or the spun gold of that millers daughter. This slightly sets the time and place of the story, as the character would have to have heard the stories to reference them. However, because of the lack of detail there is still some mystery in the time and setting. This is similar to the phrase in The Bloody Chamber when the main character describes the glass box telling the story of Bluebeard. When describing the male character, I wanted to portray an element of mystery to the form the character appeared in, as in many of Carters stories, the actual form of the character only becomes apparent near the end of the story, or sometimes not at all. In my story the form of the character at the end is rather obvious, with phrases like The scales of his cracked skin, although when previously describing him I tried to give him the serpentine elements but in a way so they could have been used to describe a real human being. This technique is very apparent in Carters Wolf-Alice and I wanted to achieve the same mystery as this with my story. The general tone of the story starts off fairly innocent, but as the story develops the darkness appears, perhaps with the introduction of the male figure. Also, the temptation of the female character was another common feature in most fairytales, and I imitated this in my piece. The way in which Carter shows dialogue makes the reader again feel involved. In my story, all the dialogue occurred during descriptions. I thought this flow of dialogue included the reader in the situation in the same way. Most common fairytales all have some kind of moral. Usually these morals are intended to teach children what not to do. For example, be careful what you wish for or things dont always appear as they seem. In my story I have played with this idea, as my piece is loosely based on the Frog Prince I have looked into the moral things are not always what they seem. In the original Frog Prince, the ugly frog turns out to be a handsome Prince. However, in my story I decided to make a significant twist. Infact the moral of my story was that sometimes things are what they seem, and sometimes people who appear suspicious are exactly what you think of them. Another point I tried to add was the idea of the enchantment being similar to that of Eve and the Serpent in the garden of Eden. The male characters charm is similar to that of the serpent in convincing Eve to take the apple. The golden orb also represents the apple of the story. This religious aspect of the story strongly relates back to the traditional fairytales which combined magic realism with strong religious views. In many traditional fairytale the replacement of a mother with a step-mother, or no mother at all, is very apparent. In my story I made reference to the lack of a mother figure when I said a petite wooden doll her late mother had given her. The feel of it against her skin did nothing to bring back the warm embrace of her. This is a common fairytale feature. In conclusion, I think my story showed many of the similar stylised techniques as Carters stories. The overall values of common fairytales were clearly apparent, but along with several elements that are similar to Carters own style.

Unobtrusive Measures in Sociology Experiments In research, an unobtrusive measure is a method of making observations without the knowledge of those being observed. Unobtrusive measures are designed to minimize a major problem in social research, which is how a subject’s awareness of the research project affects behavior and distorts research results. The main drawback, however, is that there is a very limited range of information that can be gathered this way. One way to assess the effect of racial integration in schools is to compare the academic records of students educated in schools whose student populations vary in their degree of racial heterogeneity. Another way that one can determine the results of an experiment utilizing unobtrusive measures is to analyze data and behavior from a hidden camera or through a two-way mirror. In either case, privacy may come into play and a test subjects individual rights are in danger of being violated. Indirect Measures As opposed to obtrusive measures, indirect measures occur naturally during research and are available to researchers in pretty much limitless supply, depending on the researchers innovation and imagination. Indirect measures are naturally unobtrusive and are used to collect data without introducing any formal measurement procedure of which the subject is aware. Take for instance trying to measure foot traffic and item popularity in a fashion boutique. Although placing a person in the store to observe shoppers might give you great data on what people buy, it also has a chance of intruding on the study by letting the shopper know they were being watched. On the other hand, if a researcher installs hidden cameras and observes data collected from those to notice trend, the measure would be considered indirect or unobtrusive. Similarly, some cell phone apps now allow retailers to track the movement of cellular devices in the store if the customer is logged into a discount app for the store. This specific geolocation can measure exactly how long customers spend in different parts of stores, without being aware theyre being watched. This raw data is the closest one can get to understanding how a shopper spends his or her time in a store when he or she feels no one is watching.   Ethics and Surveillance Unobstructive measures come with their fair share of ethics concerns, primarily in terms of privacy and surveillance. For that reason, researchers should be careful with which methods they use and how they use them when conducting these types of sociological experiments.   By definition, indirect or unobtrusive measures collect data and observations without the experiment subjects knowledge, which could be cause for concern for this person being observed. Further, it could be a violation of the persons right to privacy by not using informed consent. In general, it is important to understand the laws governing privacy in the context of your experiment. Chances are, most will require consent from the participants, though this is not the case with certain public spaces such as museums or amusement parks, where buying a ticket acts as a contract for the patron which often times includes video surveillance and monitoring.

The Modern evolutionary synthesis is combination of Darwinian evolutionary theory and Mendelian genetics. It is impossible to understand the theory and it's importance to the scientific community unless one understands the history behind the theory. From 1902 to 1953 major publications in the areas of systematics, developmental biology, botany, population genetics, and paleontology sucessfully integrated Darwin's four postulates and Mendelian genetics into a reformation of evolutionary theory. The new theory is referred to as the Modern Synthesis, Evolutionary Synthesis, or the Modern Evolutionary Synthesis. These terms can be used inter-changeably. Before one can understand the Modern Synthesis and this analysis there a few defintions that must be explained in order to grasp the concept, espically if a person is not familiar with biological terminology. This list of definitions does not have to be read fully but is provided to refer to when a biological term is not understood... of course maybe not every term that isn't understood, but the majority. -Allele-one of a pair, or series, of alternative forms of a gene that occur at a given locus (location) in a chromosome. -Fitness-the number of offspring left by an individual, often compared with the average of the population or with some other standard, such as the number left by a particular genotype. -Gene-a hereditary determinant of a specific biological function; a unit of inheritance (DNA) located in a fixed position on a chromosome. -Genotype-the genetic constitution (gene makeup) of a an organism. -Phenotype-The observable characteristics of an organism. -Chromosomes-darkly staining nucleotide bodies that are observed in cells during division. Each chromosome carries a linear array of genes. -Mutation-a change in DNA at a particular locations in an organism. â€Å"What are you doing? † Nick inquired. â€Å"Just standing here, old sport. † I felt relieved, at least I had a friend standing in this dark night with me now, I won’t be alone anymore like I was always be. Somehow, I know my face looks really vicious right now. I might be too worried about what happened tonight. Nick seemed to be frightened by me. After a really awkward silence, I decided to shoot my question:† Did you see any trouble on the road? † â€Å"Yes, †obviously he’s waiting for my confession. I don’t want to surrender my little hope that quickly, â€Å" Was she killed? â€Å"Yes. † His reply was simple and strong. At that moment I had the impulsion to tell him everything happened tonight, but I still kept it to myself eventually. â€Å" I thought so; I told Daisy I thought so. It’s better that the shock should all come at once. She stood it pretty well. † I was kind of surprised by my attitude. I was talking about a dead woman who had been killed by Daisy and all I care is Daisy’s reaction. Since when did I become so cold-blooded? To distract him from my reaction, I continued:† I got to West Egg by a side road and left the car in my garage.I don’t think anybody saw us, but of course I can’t be sure. † I tried my best to put on a cheerful smile and tell him everything will be ok. He’s astonished by my indifferent attitude. â€Å" Ok, man, I really don’t think you understand how severe this car accident was and I hate to tell you that you are absolutely wrong,† he skillfully hid his disgusted face and went on,† her name was Wilson. Her husband owns the garage. Now let’s be honest, it was you or Daisy driving that damn devil car? † I know he would punch me in my face if I kept saying some nonsense. Yes, she was driving, but of course I ‘ll say I was. When we left New York she was really nervous th at she thought she would be steady if she could drive. You know I always let her do whatever she wants to do. So this woman, rushed out at us just as we were passing a car coming the other way. It all happened to fast to save anything. She seemed like she wanted to speak to us, I don’t even know who she was. First Daisy turned away from the woman toward the other car, but for some reasons she turned back and smashed into her. I think she wanted to kill her, old sport. Yes, she succeeded, it ripped her open. † Nick doesn’t seem surprised; he probably knows something about Daisy and that woman. At that moment, I was irritated because this whole world is filled with lies and I’m the only idiot who has no idea what’s going on. â€Å" Don’t tell me. I don’t want to hear it. † I was so frustrated that I tried to deceive myself that Daisy just accidentally killed that woman. † I tried to make her stop but the car’s brake w as broken so she couldn’t. I pulled on the emergency brake and she fell over into my lap and I drove on. † â€Å"I hope Daisy will be alright tomorrow.I’m so worried about her right now. Yes, she’s gonna to be relaxed. That’s right, nothing is gonna bother her, except†¦Ã¢â‚¬  Nick interrupted with an angry roar, â€Å"Seriously man, you guys killed an innocent woman! It’s not like a forgivable mistake that you can do something to compensate. I really hate judging people but the way you deal with this accident and your attitude really irritate me. I can’t stand it anymore. Where are your sympathy, innocence and passion? It’s not worth it to lose them to Daisy. † I made a parting grasp at my hair because I dislike myself too.All those good and evil things happened upon my life made me exhausted. The only goal I have for now is to protect Daisy. Or, I might just want to keep the most beautiful memory of my life in my deep soul and have the extravagant hope that I can make everything looks just like before. Marrying Daisy is probably no longer my dream, getting the stubborn me satisfied by achieving all those old dreams is. To get rid of this wild surmise, I continued, â€Å" I’ll wait here and see if he tries to bother her about that unpleasantness this afternoon.I told her that if he intends to do anything she could lock herself in her room and turn the light out and on again. † â€Å"He won’t touch her. † He blinked his eye and said,† He’s not thinking about her. † â€Å"I don’t trust him, old sport. † He seemed to be annoyed by our nonsensical conversation. â€Å" How long are you going to wait? † â€Å"All night, if necessary. Anyhow, till they all go to bed. † I hope my persistence can drive him away and fortunately it worked, â€Å"You wait here,† he said, â€Å"I’ll go see if there’s any sign of a commotion. † After he’s gone, I’m a little bored by the sudden quietness.Actually, I’m also confused by what I really want to find out tonight. One of the inner villains keeps telling me that nothing special will happen tonight and Daisy won’t let you take the responsibility for her. The other one despised my infatuation and implied me that Daisy was conspiring with Tom. Maggie Chen Mr. Maurer Voices 16 February 2013 Analysis In this chapter, we can get the general idea that Gatsby is confused with his true feelings to Daisy. He used to be obsessed with her and was willing to do anything to win her back.However, after what happened in recent years, he started to open his eyes and look within. He’s not satisfied with the life he is living now. Although he once had really clear goals that were even not worth fighting for, at least he had motivation to keep his strength and finally achieved his dreams. Judging by his inner struggle and all the things he said to Nick in this chapter, he tries his best to relive his old life and pursue all those unfinished dreams. As we explore deeper into the particular mental activities, he apparently is just completing tasks out of obligation, without any care in it.For example, he keeps telling himself that Daisy is going to be all right â€Å"I hope Daisy will be alright tomorrow. I’m so worried about her right now. Yes, she’s gonna to be relaxed. That’s right, nothing is gonna bother her, except†¦Ã¢â‚¬  These words are also used to comfort himself by saying he has already done everything he could. Gatsby also changes from an innocent sympathetic boy into an indifferent murderer who doesn’t value other people’s lives. Even Nick, a non-judging good friend can’t stand it anymore, as he says, â€Å"It’s not like a forgivable mistake that you can do something to compensate. In my opinion, Gatsby staring  into the night at the g reen light at the end of Daisy's dock, having lavish parties to attract her attention, making money only to win Daisy back, using Daisy's cousin Nick to arrange a â€Å"crafty† reunion, buying the multi-million dollar home just to be near her and taking the responsibility for the car crash only to save Daisy's sanity, all these are more signs of obsession than true love. Gatsby’s obsession with Daisy is hopeless and he’s quite enjoying what he’s doing.
